The program began with the assembly and installation of birdhouses. Before heading into the forest, participants underwent a short training session with a licensed orienteering instructor. They learned how to read a topographic map, use a compass, and determine an azimuth—skills that, just a few hours later, they truly needed.

Divided into teams, the volunteers set out in search of checkpoints, carrying the birdhouses they had built themselves. Each house had its place and its purpose. They were installed with the opening facing south or southeast, in accordance with the action plan. Eco-orienteering was thus not just a game of navigation, but a task with a concrete goal: to find the right tree and leave something behind that remains long after the volunteers depart.
Once the physical part of the day was completed, a calmer moment of the program followed: forest wellness with Ivan Lozan, a forest therapy mediator. It was an opportunity to slow down the pace and shift attention, if only for a moment, from tasks to the forest itself, its sounds, and the peace it carries.
This action combined practical volunteer work, learning through eco-orienteering, and a moment of respite in nature all in one place. What remains behind the Schneider Electric volunteers are not just photos from the field, but birdhouses that still stand on Fruška Gora as silent proof of a day spent in collective effort.
