The fifth, final action within the mission of the “Otkrij Beograd” volunteers to plant a total of 2,000 laurel cherry saplings during 2025 was held at the “Nada Dimić” Medical School in Belgrade. With this event, we have completed the whole story – from the first planting in the kindergarten, through elementary schools, to the finale in high school – and confirmed that the goal has not remained just a plan, but has become a visible change in school and kindergarten yards throughout the city. When such an idea is carried out to the end, the feeling is the same for everyone: pride, gratitude, and motivation to do even more in the coming years.

What made this finale particularly powerful was the energy of the students and the atmosphere in the school – serious, organized, and at the same time cordial. The students actively participated in planting and watering, with a sense of responsibility that is pleasantly surprising: focused, team-oriented, and ready to do the job properly. We especially want to commend the principal of the “Nada Dimić” Medical School, as well as the school staff, for their exceptional support, clear coordination, and openness to implementing such initiatives in the right way. When a school stands behind an idea, when it provides the conditions and motivates the students, then the action grows into an example worth repeating.

Planting is the beginning, and the real value comes through care: watering, protecting, and monitoring the growth of seedlings. This is where ecological awareness arises in practice – when students take responsibility for nurturing what they have planted themselves. We thank the Polytechnic – School for New Technologies for their support, cooperation, and excellent response. This was the fourth action within the 2,000 laurel cherry mission, and now only one more step separates us from the complete achievement of the goal – we look forward to the last action that awaits us by the end of this month.
