SPRING CLEANUP OF THE “SREM BEAUTY”

CSR points 162

We have successfully conducted the fifth volunteer environmental initiative aimed at habitat and biodiversity conservation, as well as enhancing the visitor experience within the protected area of the “Obedska Bara” Special Nature Reserve. This initiative represented a collaborative effort to preserve the natural heritage of this unique region, globally renowned as the “Eldorado for Birds” and the “Beauty of Srem”. The ‘Obedska bara’ Special Nature Reserve is a valuable complex of oxbow lakes, ponds, marsh vegetation, wet meadows, and forests, with a rich diversity of ecosystems and species, especially endangered ones.

A total of 50 volunteers from Media House actively participated in various activities. One team of volunteers was dedicated to preserving aquatic habitats, removing invasive alien plant species from the water with the help of Discover Serbia’s expert ecological fleet with specialized boats. Another team worked on improving visitor infrastructure, painting fences, repairing furniture, and installing new elements adapted for children with developmental disabilities.

This action was also supported by EKOSTAR PAK company, specialized in packaging waste management, whose expert team conducted an educational workshop on the selection and proper disposal of packaging waste for action participants.

Thanks to the dedication of PE “Vojvodinašume” employees and the Discover Serbia team, as well as the support of EKOSTAR PAK company, this action achieved significant success in nature conservation and improving conditions for visitors in SNR “Obedska Bara”.
