Lake Međuvršje, Western Morava, Čačak
April 22, 2023
In an effort to preserve the aquatic ecosystem, Discover Serbia carried out a unique cleanup of Lake Međuvršje. During this one-day environmental engagement, volunteers removed waste and debris from the water surface, making the lake cleaner and safer for wildlife and the local community.
For this action, Discover Serbia engaged six rafting boats from the ecological fleet, catamarans, and other floating tools to cover a wider area of the lake. Licensed skippers helped make the action efficient and safe for participants.
Each volunteer received protective equipment, including safety vests, gloves, and neoprene boots. During the cleanup, the commitment to ecological values and the common good was visible at every step, as participants carefully removed waste from the water.
In addition to the environmental benefits, the lake cleanup action also had a communal effect, bringing the local community together in the fight to preserve natural resources. This initiative not only improved the aesthetics of Lake Međuvršje but also raised awareness of the importance of preserving the aquatic environment.
65 GoGreen Team volunteers participated in the action. During the action itself, 286 bags of waste were collected, or about 12m³ of floating waste.
Discover Serbia continues to set standards in volunteer environmental actions, creating a positive impact on the environment and inspiring others to join the global effort to preserve the planet.
