Over the past weekend, as part of the “The Lungs of Belgrade” project, another afforestation initiative was successfully carried out, with the City&Me app making an important contribution by planting 1,200 pedunculate oak saplings. This initiative continued the shared goal of strengthening green areas and improving environmental quality in Belgrade.

Planting pedunculate oak has particular significance because it is a long-lived, resilient species that is exceptionally important for establishing stable, high-quality forest ecosystems. In addition to contributing to biodiversity conservation, such trees will play an important role in the future in absorbing carbon dioxide, producing oxygen, and improving overall air quality.
