The end of 2025 was marked by the realization of the third and final planting action, held on December 27 in Petrović, within the “Lungs of Belgrade” project. On that occasion, 1,400 new seedlings were planted, which rounded off the afforestation plan for this year and achieved the overall goal of the company BELGRADE AIRPORT powered by VINCI – the operator of Belgrade Airport – to plant a total of 5,000 trees in one calendar year.

With this result, Belgrade Airport has become the company with the largest contribution to afforestation within the “Lungs of Belgrade” project. Discover Serbia, the Municipality of Surčin, and the Faculty of Forestry express special gratitude for the perseverance, the scope of the activities carried out, and the clear decision to invest in improving the environment in the long term.

We highly appreciate the decision of Belgrade Airport to set ambitious, but responsibly defined goals in the first year of the project implementation and to fully achieve them. The “Belgrade Airport Forest” was planted on a new cadastral plot, where afforestation was carried out for the first time within this project.

Space has been left at the same location for an additional 20,000 seedlings, which Discover Serbia and Belgrade Airport will plant together in the coming period. This clearly emphasizes that the achieved result is not the end of the project, but the beginning of long-term and strategic cooperation.

A special value to this project is given by the commitment of employees and volunteers of Belgrade Airport, who have shown exceptional motivation and responsibility during previous actions. Regardless of the weather conditions, the work on the ground was carried out with a high level of engagement and a clear desire to create new value that will have long-term significance for the local community.

This approach confirms that responsible management of the area in which the company operates also implies concrete steps, the effects of which are measured years in advance – through a healthier environment and sustainable development.
