ECO DAY that Leaves a Mark: FedEx Volunteers in a Major Ecological Action on Great War Island

The first step towards cleaner rivers – an inspiring start to the season

The Discover Serbia initiative “Clean the Rivers of Serbia” season has opened, and the first ecological action of the year was held on one of Belgrade’s most precious natural gems – Great War Island. In collaboration with FedEx, more than 30 volunteers bravely embarked on their first eco day adventure, ready to leave a positive impact and contribute to nature conservation. This action was the first organized attempt to clean the island both from the water (Eco fleet) and from the land, giving the entire endeavor a new dimension and strength.

Two missions, one goal – cleaning hard-to-reach areas

Volunteers were divided into two teams – the eco fleet (which accessed hard-to-reach shores and inlets by boat) and the infantry (which operated from the land). Together, these two groups successfully cleaned the second zone of the island, removing over 200 kilograms of waste from the sensitive aquatic and forest ecosystem! Plastic, glass, cans, and other waste were collected from areas that had not been cleaned for years, significantly contributing to the protection of the plant and animal life of Great War Island.

Eco team building with real results

This ecological action was much more than an ordinary team building – it was an unforgettable event filled with laughter, positive energy, good food, and a sense of community. In a relaxed yet productive atmosphere, the FedEx team demonstrated what it looks like when motivation and team spirit are directed towards a concrete goal – a cleaner and healthier environment. Their first ecological adventure was marked by useful work, excellent collaboration, and great satisfaction in doing something important for the environment we live in.

Thank you for being part of the change!

A big thank you to the wonderful FedEx team for the inspiring energy, dedication, and great mood they brought to the field. Your commitment has left a lasting mark – both in nature and in all of us who were part of this action.

We look forward to new joint ecological endeavors, and invite other companies to join us in the “Clean the Rivers of Serbia” initiative and organize their own eco day that will combine camaraderie, responsibility, and tangible results for nature.
