  • 10 forestry engineers
  • 2,024 new seedlings
  • 1 ha of reforested area

With the first days of spring, we continued our major reforestation initiative. As of yesterday, Belgrade’s lungs have been enriched with (a symbolic number!) 2024 new trees that will serve to improve air quality in the capital for more than 100 years to come. As part of our initiative to establish a scientific and educational base for the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Belgrade, we planted a new hectare of forest in Petrovčić, which represents a significant step in restoring green areas and ensuring healthier air for the capital of Serbia.

Our association has thus continued the action started last year, and now we have implemented it thanks to the support of 80 volunteers from Ekostar Pak company, to whom we extend our special gratitude.

The expert team of Discover Serbia for this action consisted of 10 forestry engineers, led by Vladan Ivetić, a full professor at the Faculty of Forestry in the scientific field of Seed Science, Nursery Production, and Reforestation. He emphasized the importance of careful selection of tree species to ensure long-term benefits from this plantation.

“Selecting the appropriate tree species is a crucial step in implementing such actions, because if we introduce the wrong species to an unsuitable habitat, we will have wasted space for about 20 years. That’s why we have particularly carefully chosen species that will contribute to the ecological balance of this area in the long term,” said Professor Ivetić.

Ekostar Pak company and Discover Serbia association have formed a strategic partnership with the common goal of initiating, implementing, and promoting activities that contribute to a healthier environment and strengthening the ecological awareness of each individual. The engagement of Ekostar Pak company demonstrates a commitment to environmental protection and strong social responsibility.
