15.11.2023. In 2023, on a morning when the rain was incessant, volunteers gathered and set off on their mission, gazing at the clouds. However, upon arriving in Petrovčić in Surčin, nature rewarded them—the sun shone, heralding the success of this ecological endeavor.

The expert team from Discover Serbia, comprising 6 forestry engineers and one surveyor, with the support of Vladan Ivetić, a tenured professor from the Faculty of Forestry, initiated the first reforestation project in Surčin and the establishment of a scientific teaching base for the Faculty of Forestry.

The volunteers were divided into 6 teams, competing in high-quality planting and for the title of the most valuable team. A total of 80 volunteers from Atlantic Grupa contributed to this noble initiative, planting as many as 2,000 oak saplings.

After an exceptionally uncertain competition, we made the decision to award all volunteers with prizes and a gold volunteer medal, as they fearlessly embarked on the mission in extremely poor weather conditions.

Significance of the action: This ecological initiative holds profound and long-term significance for Surčin. The area allocated to the Faculty of Forestry will become a crucial site for the faculty’s third scientific phase, and reforestation will create a sustainable and ecologically rich space in accordance with urban plans.

Objective of the action: The objective of this action is not only to plant trees but also to raise awareness about the importance of reforestation, nature conservation, and contributing to ecological balance.
