Discover Serbia, in cooperation with Microsoft, has successfully implemented an ecological action to collect pedunculate oak acorns. This initiative took place on October 3, 2023, and represents another step towards preserving the most valuable species of hardwood in Serbia.

With the support of ten dedicated volunteers from Microsoft, the action gathered a team of experts from Discover Serbia to collect pedunculate oak acorns. A total of about 200 kilograms of acorns were collected during this inspiring action, which represents a significant contribution to nature conservation and support for indigenous flora.

The location of the action was the Forest Administration “Morović”, where Microsoft volunteers worked side by side with Discover Serbia experts. The pedunculate oak has special significance as an indigenous species, and this year’s seed yield was extremely high. However, the cold weather caused a sudden drop of seeds to the ground, which required urgent intervention to preserve its properties.

The pedunculate oak acorn collection action not only contributed to nature conservation but also highlighted the importance of partnerships between civil society organizations and companies. Microsoft has distinguished itself as a responsible company, contributing together with Discover Serbia to a positive impact on the environment.

This action is part of Discover Serbia’s broader effort to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage active community participation in nature conservation.
