One-day ecological action of Discover Serbia at the favorite picnic spot of Belgrade residents.

This time, the Discover Serbia team carried out the action with our partner, the company “Sport Time”.

Zvezdara Forest represents a valuable natural resource that carries great importance and specificity. This beautiful forest, located in the territory of Belgrade, plays a key role in preserving biodiversity, providing ecosystem services and space for recreational activities of citizens.

In addition, Zvezdara Forest has a significant role in providing ecosystem services. As the green lungs of the city, this forest contributes to the production of oxygen, reducing the level of air pollution and regulating climatic conditions. It also acts as a natural reservoir of water, playing an important role in regulating watercourses and preventing soil erosion.

Zvezdara Forest also has a significant role in the recreation of citizens. With its spacious hiking and biking trails, sports fields, this forest provides opportunities for walking, running, cycling and other outdoor activities and a peaceful environment for relaxation.

All the mentioned activities are better carried out in a forest where there is no garbage. For this reason, we conducted an ecological action to clean the wider area of ​​Zvezdara Forest.

The action was preceded by a professional address by representatives of “Gradsko zelenilo Beograd”, led by Jovica Lovrić, dipl. ing. of forestry, who gave volunteers information about the importance of Zvezdara Forest, as well as data on its origin and development through systematic management.

President of Discover Serbia Vladimir Pavlović, dipl. ing. of forestry, after the introductory speech, presented the agenda and plan of realization.

The action began with the division of the entire territory of Zvezdara Forest into 5 fields. Volunteers formed five teams. Each team was led by a representative of the Discover Serbia organization, a licensed forestry engineer. The teams competed with each other in the amount of waste collected in their territory, which contributed to the atmosphere and encouraged teamwork and motivation among the participants.

The cleaning action of Zvezdara Forest was extremely successful. Thanks to the dedication and efforts of all participants, 386kg of waste was collected and removed from the natural habitat. The waste was properly sorted into 126 bags and disposed of in appropriate places under the supervision of the expert service of JP Gradsko Zelenilo. The total amount of collected garbage occupied an area of ​​3.4m³.

During the competition, each team distinguished itself with its effort and engagement. The teams that collected the most garbage and cleaned their area in the shortest time were awarded. All participants showed exceptional dedication and teamwork. They connected through a common goal, creating a positive atmosphere.

This initiative of the company “Sport Time” contributed to the preservation of nature and provided a valuable experience that will reflect on the working atmosphere and teamwork within the company and inspire further activities in order to protect the environment.
