Belegiš – Novi Banovci
July 15, 2022
On the hottest day of the year, Discover Serbia, in partnership with the volunteer group GoGreen Team, carried out an ambitious ecological action called “Keep the Danube Blue”. Although the high temperatures were challenging, the enthusiasm of 46 dedicated volunteers did not wane, but became an additional motivation to protect our beautiful river – the Danube.
The goal of the action was to preserve the natural brilliance of the Danube, a symbol of a clean and preserved river. During this inspiring initiative, volunteers collectively gathered an incredible 312 bags of waste, equivalent to 18 cubic meters of garbage. This impressive achievement is not only a contribution to cleaning the river but also a strong message about the need to preserve aquatic ecosystems.
The action took place in the coastal areas of the Danube, where volunteers carefully removed various types of waste, from plastic bottles and packaging to wood and glass debris. In addition to directly contributing to river conservation, volunteers wholeheartedly shared information about the importance of preserving waterways and ecosystems with passersby on the shore.
This action is an example of synergy between civil society organizations and the local community, highlighting the importance of joint efforts in nature conservation. Discover Serbia is proud of the engagement of all volunteers, and especially wants to highlight the contribution of the GoGreen Team in achieving this significant ecological endeavor.
“Keep the Danube Blue” is not just a cleaning action, but also an appeal to everyone to responsibly treat nature and water resources. Discover Serbia will continue with similar initiatives, raising awareness about the importance of preserving our rivers and encouraging active community participation in environmental conservation.
