Lim River, Rekovići Hydropower Plant – Mramorje
September 4 and 5, 2021
Discover Serbia and GoGreen Team proudly joined forces to carry out the Lim River cleanup action in 2021. This environmentally conscious initiative brought together 50 dedicated volunteers, 6 experienced rafting skippers from Discover Serbia, and an additional 5 Discover Serbia members on land, who collectively worked to clean the riverbanks and waterways from the new Rekovići hydropower plant to Mramorje.

On-site Action
Volunteers diligently worked to clean the banks of the Lim River, while 6 experienced Discover Serbia rafting skippers ensured safety on the water during the action. The collected waste, totaling approximately 18m³ or 423 bags, attests to a significant contribution to river cleanup and environmental preservation.
Promotion of Local Specialties
In line with the idea of changing habits and promoting local values, volunteers had the opportunity to enjoy the regional specialties. On the beach in Priboj, in front of Hotel Lim, they sampled heljdopite, Priboj ćevap, homemade juices, ajvar, and products from the VoLim company, thus emphasizing support for local producers.
Media-Covered Action
The action was carefully followed and reported on by numerous media teams, including TV stations B92, TV Prva, Nova S, and TV Priboj, making the initiative’s contribution visible and inspiring to a wider audience.
Education for Sustainability
Beyond the concrete goal of cleaning the Lim River, the action had an additional dimension: educating volunteers about the importance of environmental preservation and changing daily habits. This segment contributes to raising awareness about sustainability and the long-term impact of individuals on the environment.
