Record day and strong progress in the restoration of green areas
The second reforestation effort within the “Lungs of Belgrade” project, implemented by Discover Serbia in collaboration with BELGRADE AIRPORT, commenced with the arrival on-site and the collection of equipment, gloves, and tools. Following brief instructions and work organization, the volunteers dispersed across the plots and began planting, maintaining a positive atmosphere and a clear objective.
In just a few hours of work, thanks to effective coordination and a team-oriented approach, a total of 3,300 saplings were planted, setting a new record – never before have 25 volunteers achieved such a result. The volunteers from Belgrade Airport have once again demonstrated exceptional dedication to reforestation and environmental improvement!

Significance of the action and the role of the dedicated team
Beyond the sheer number of trees planted, the significance of this effort lies in the continued formation of a windbreak belt, which plays a crucial role in protecting the area and enhancing the local ecosystem. Through such activities, reforestation gains long-term value and leaves a visible mark on the landscape.
Throughout the entire effort, the Discover Serbia team provided complete logistics, tools, and on-site support, creating the conditions for planting to be carried out correctly, safely, and according to plan.
A step closer to the goal of 5,000 trees
The second reforestation effort represents an important stage in the realization of the annual plan. A third, final effort is planned by the end of the year, after which BELGRADE AIRPORT will achieve its goal of planting a total of 5,000 trees during 2025 as part of the “Lungs of Belgrade” project.
