In one of the most beautiful locations in Serbia, in the heart of Obedska Bara, a special nature reserve known for its exceptional biodiversity, 120 Yandex company volunteers gathered with the Discover Serbia team to carry out one of the most complex environmental actions this year.
This was our fourth joint action in 2025, an event that combined energy, knowledge, and an immense desire to contribute to the preservation of one of Europe’s oldest wetland habitats. The atmosphere was fantastic – familial, warm, and filled with enthusiasm – and the action itself was designed to encompass several different tasks with a clear goal: habitat improvement, biodiversity conservation, and strengthening ecological awareness among adults and children.

The Discover Serbia team once again demonstrated why it has become synonymous with top-tier organization of environmental actions. From detailed terrain preparation and logistics, through expert guidance of all activities, to a carefully designed program for children, everything was aimed at enabling Yandex volunteers to make a concrete and visible contribution to the reserve through collaborative work.
Through forest paths and wet meadows, volunteers, with the support of our expert staff, participated in arranging cabins and the surrounding plateau, removing branches, wooden elements, and waste to create a safer space for rangers and visitors. Simultaneously, other teams moved towards the water buffalo pastures, where a new protective fence was installed – crucial for the proper maintenance of meadows that depend on controlled grazing.
In the peripheral zones of the reserve, volunteers were grouped, diligently working on clearing bulky waste, restoring the natural appearance that had been disturbed for years. At the center of the activities was also a large joint planting – with significant engagement from the entire Group, 500 pedunculate oak seedlings were successfully planted, creating a new protective belt of young trees that will support the restoration of the forest ecosystem.
Parallel to all the work, a rich program for children was also taking place: a sports obstacle course, a badminton zone, and a creative workshop on the birds of Obedska Bara encouraged the youngest to learn and explore nature through play, taking their first steps in ecological awareness.
All activities, combined into a coherent rhythm, left behind restored areas, cleaned zones, new saplings, and a strong sense of collective contribution.

This year’s collaboration with Yandex brought four major actions, hundreds of planted seedlings, kilograms of removed waste, and a series of improvements in natural habitats across Serbia.
Yandex has shown what sincere and consistent corporate responsibility looks like – dedication, energy, and a desire to truly make an impact. The Discover Serbia team particularly looks forward to continuing the collaboration and new projects in 2026.
