On the banks of the Galovica canal, on September 18, 2025, an ecological cleaning action was carried out in cooperation with BELGRADE AIRPORT. Galovica is one of the most important water “veins” of this part of the city – it connects Surčin and New Belgrade and passes through zones where nature and urbanization meet every day. When the banks are well-maintained and passable, it means a cleaner environment for the local community, a safer space for movement, and better conditions for the recovery of the natural ecosystem along the canal. That is precisely why this location was chosen: to show how a well-organized action can leave a visible mark immediately, on the spot, and to encourage others to get involved.

On that day, Belgrade Airport volunteers showed how much team spirit, energy, and a clear desire to do something useful can quickly transform a space into a tidier and more beautiful whole. Discover Serbia provided all the necessary equipment and resources for the implementation of the activities, while the company, in addition to engaging volunteers, further supported the action with mechanization, which significantly increased the efficiency on the ground and enabled the work to be completed faster and more efficiently. Thanks to this, an illegal dump was also removed, and a significant part of the terrain was cleared on an area of approximately 80 ares. What particularly marked the day was the excellent atmosphere on the ground: good organization, quick coordination, and a sense of community – with plenty of initiative, mutual support, and positive work energy, which makes such actions memorable for both the volunteers and the local community.
