This Saturday, Marsh Company, together with its employees and their children, organized an ECO FAMILY DAY in the unique environment of Obedska Bara — one of the oldest and most valuable protected natural areas in Europe, only about fifty kilometers from Belgrade.

The goal of this day was not only socializing, but also connecting with nature, understanding its value, and the need for its preservation. The concept of ECO FAMILY DAY is based on the idea that families learn together and participate in activities that leave a positive mark. Obedska Bara, with its specific flora and fauna, was an ideal location for such a mission.

After a brief introductory training, volunteers organized into smaller teams and embarked on tasks using eco-boats, which formed part of the so-called ecofleet. During this aquatic ecological action, participants worked on removing excess aquatic plants and overgrown reeds in areas where their uncontrolled growth hindered oxygen flow to the water and threatened the natural balance of Obedska Bara. This activity was an important step in preserving a healthy aquatic ecosystem that is home to many protected species.

In addition, the teams noticed several damaged and collapsed information boards which were partially submerged or covered with branches. Volunteers carefully removed them from the water, cleaned them, and partially restored them, so they could once again serve their purpose – informing visitors about the importance of the reserve and rules of conduct in nature.

This full-day action contributed not only to strengthening team cooperation among volunteers, but also to achieving real results in preserving one of the most valuable natural habitats in Serbia.

While adults were fulfilling ecological tasks, children enjoyed a specially designed program for them. Within the ecological workshop, the little ones made masks inspired by animals from Obedska Bara and learned through play about their characteristics, roles in the ecosystem, and way of life.

LEGO robotics on the theme of ecology also attracted special attention, where children, with the help of mentors, assembled robots that solve pollution and recycling problems. Such content combined creativity, technology, and love for nature — which is precisely the essence of a modern and educational FAMILYDAY.
