ECOLOGICAL ACTION IN THE “RADOSNO DETINJSTVO” KINDERGARTEN AT BANOVO BRDO

CSR points 32

On Friday, November 29, 2024, the Discover Serbia team, with the support of volunteers from the National Domain of RS RNIDS and Dogma Brewery, successfully carried out a planting action in the “Radosno Detinjstvo” kindergarten at Banovo Brdo.

The kindergarten faces a serious problem of soil erosion and rainwater accumulation, causing puddles to form in the children’s play area and grassy areas to become bare. To help address this issue, a planting of 120 cherry laurel seedlings was organized, planted in three rows. The entire area was previously prepared to form a natural barrier that will slow down rainwater flow and protect the terrain.

Volunteers and Community Support

The action brought together teams of dedicated volunteers:

  • Dogma Brewery: 5 volunteers
  • National Domain of RS RNIDS: 6 volunteers
  • Discover Serbia: a team consisting of Nenad Stavretović, a full professor at the Faculty of Forestry, Vladimir Pavlović, a graduate forestry engineer, Petra Bunjevac, head of the Discover Serbia office, and four other members of Discover Serbia.

In addition to planting, an environmental training was organized for the kindergarten children, after which they were given appropriate rewards. The action was also covered by the Newsmax Balkans TV crew, further drawing attention to the importance of environmental protection and support for local communities.

Gratitude and Symbolic Gifts

The kindergarten manager, Ivana Joksimović, and the president of the Parents’ Council, Mihajlo Čarapić, thanked Discover Serbia and all the volunteers for their selfless help and effort. As a token of appreciation, the kindergarten children prepared a symbolic gift for Discover Serbia – a hand-painted picture, which will have a special place in the organization’s office.

The president of the Parents’ Council, Mihajlo Čarapić, particularly praised the contribution of socially responsible companies that participated in the action. He also announced plans to engage more companies from the Čukarica municipality to further improve the conditions in kindergartens with the support of Discover Serbia.

Conclusion

The action at the “Radosno Detinjstvo” kindergarten demonstrated how we can address challenges and improve spaces for the youngest through joint efforts. Discover Serbia continues to work on similar projects, creating positive changes through collaboration with socially responsible companies and communities across Serbia.
