As part of the Lungs of Belgrade initiative, a major reforestation action took place on October 25th, where 130 volunteers from Microsoft Development Center Serbia planted 2000 seedlings of pedunculate oak, one of the most valuable native species in Serbia.

This success would not have been possible without the dedication of employees, who invested their energy and time to contribute to a healthier environment in our capital. This action represents an important step in our joint efforts to improve the ecosystem and preserve natural resources, and we implemented it with the support of experts from the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade, UNDP project, RNIDS, and the local community.

The Lungs of Belgrade initiative is an example of how socially responsible companies, such as Microsoft Development Center Serbia, can take a key role in environmental protection and improving the health of urban areas. This reforestation action in Petrovčić is not only a contribution to Belgrade’s greenery but also an important step towards creating a healthier and more beautiful environment for all of us.

The “For a Greener Surčin” project is implemented by the Municipality of Surčin and the “Discover Serbia” organization with financial support from the European Union within the “EU for Green Agenda in Serbia” project. This “EU for Green Agenda in Serbia” project, with technical and financial support from the European Union and in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in cooperation with Sweden and the European Investment Bank, with additional funding provided by the governments of Sweden, Switzerland, and Serbia.

Together, we can truly be drivers of positive change in environmental conservation and improving the living standard for all of us.
