Great War Island, located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, is one of Serbia’s most important natural assets, with rich biodiversity and habitat for 196 bird species, including many endangered ones. Although this area is protected, the shores of the Belgrade island are often covered with waste brought by the Danube, endangering its natural beauty and ecosystem.
Euronet, as an example of a socially responsible company, recognized the importance of environmental preservation and made a significant contribution through a large-scale cleaning action of Great War Island. In cooperation with the Discover Serbia organization and partner Ekostar Pak, almost 100 volunteers from Euronet gathered to jointly clean the island’s shores and restore it to a clean and safe state for wildlife.
During this action, over 300 bags of waste were collected, and 6 tractors were needed to remove all the collected waste from the location. Volunteers, divided into teams, contributed with great enthusiasm and with expert guidance, while team spirit was further encouraged by a competition in the amount of collected garbage.
With this initiative, Euronet has shown exceptional dedication to preserving natural resources and creating a better future, not only for the community but also for the wider population. Ekostar Pak, as a constant partner in such environmental actions, provided crucial support this time as well, once again proving that joint efforts can bring significant changes.
This action not only cleaned the shores of Great War Island but also raised awareness about the importance of environmental responsibility and protection of our country’s natural beauty.
