Within the project “For a Greener Surčin”, 4 workshops were organized on the topic of environmental protection, where children had the opportunity to learn about the importance of forests, nature protection, the process of recycling various materials, and proper waste sorting through interactive play.
The project “For a Greener Surčin” is implemented by the Municipality of Surčin and the organization “Discover Serbia” with the financial support of the European Union within the project “EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia”. This project “EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia”, with the technical and financial support of the European Union and in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in cooperation with Sweden and the European Investment Bank, with additional
financial resources provided by the governments of Sweden, Switzerland and Serbia.
All children from the detached department of the Elementary School “Dušan Vukasović Diogen” in Petrovčić and 80 children in Bečmen participated in the workshops. A total of 160 students had the opportunity to create a recycling chain with the help of LEGO robotics – from separating and transporting waste, through energy production via wind turbines, to a recycling plant, using sensors and programmed models. This educational activity combined play and learning, encouraging children’s awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
